at Eastern National 4-H Roundup
Five Washington State University 4-H teams competed at the Eastern National 4-H Roundup in Louisville, Kentucky participating in both equine and dairy events.
Taking first in the nation in equine team public presentation were Caitlyn Hammersley, 18, and Sophia Howard, 16, both of Clark County.
Their speech “Clearing the Confusing” demonstrated how to perform fecal testing and select the best de-wormer. In addition to their ribbons and engraved plate the teens were awarded a $500.00 scholarship.
4-Hers from Pierce and Snohomish County also took part in Hippology, Horse Bowl, Horse Judging and Dairy Quiz Bowl competitions.
The November Roundup, the largest contest in the history of the event, attracted more than 350 participants throughout the country. The Eastern National 4-H Roundup is part of the North American International Livestock Exposition.
