4-H Leader Garners Prestigious
Black
and White Award at
King County Fair

Long time 4-H Family Living Leader Jim Olson holds a beet grown from the 4-H demonstration garden at the King County Fair. Olson and other 4-H youth and adults planted a 3’ x 85’ garden in May which produced over a dozen varieties of vegetables and flowers. During the July 16 – 18 event in Enumclaw Olson talked with fairgoers about how to grow all types of produce, cut fresh vegetables right out of the garden, and provided on the spot taste testing opportunities. Upon winning the Fair’s top honor, the Black and White Ribbon, Olson said it was “overwhelming but also very rewarding.”
