Breaking Barriers—Building Bridges

Chemicals exploded, colors danced, and mist trailed into the ethers as captivated teens watched how simple experiments could alter their views of chemistry and their directions in life. This class and over three dozen others at the 2009 WSU 4-H Teen Conference offered teens a sample of life following high school, including college, apprenticeships, and different career paths during the three-day event in Pullman.   Entire story.

Exchange student4-H Japanese Exchange Students
Arrive in Western Washington

After a ten hour flight with little or no sleep 43 Japanese youth were eager to play games, laugh, and experience life in Washington State.

The group, along with three adult chaperones, began their four week summer stay by getting acquainted with each other at the Dumas Bay Center in Federal Way.   Entire story.

and White Award at King County Fair

Long time 4-H Family Living Leader Jim Olson and other 4-H youth and adults planted a 3’ x 85’ garden in May which produced over a dozen varieties of vegetables and flowers.   Entire story.

What does 4-H offer you as a teen?

I like getting to know other people and how I can bond with others.  Through 4-H I’ve been Michelleable to get to know a lot more people.  4-H gets me connected.  I’ve also learned how I can get money for college.

4-H has helped me learn about college and jobs.  DanielI’ve made some good friends in 4-H.  I want to learn more about future possibilities after high school and college and different careers and 4-H provides that.
