for
AmericanWest Bank Grants
PURPOSE
The goal of this granting opportunity is to fund worthy 4-H youth development programs or projects with an agriculture or livestock focus in communities where AmericanWest Bank operates. The emphasis will be on projects that impact a 4-H group, club or entire county program and that meet short-term needs such as basic project funding, new innovative programs, seed money, emergency or unanticipated shortfalls. Suggestions include (but are not limited to): agricultural education of youth, expanding 4-H experiential learning to youth, animal and plant science projects or programs.
FUNDING and ELIGIBILITY
4-H clubs and programs in the following counties are eligible for funding: Spokane, Lincoln, Stevens, Whitman, Franklin, Columbia, Walla Walla, Benton, Yakima, and Grant. Grant awards will have a maximum of $250 per group or club.
Programs aimed at 4-H youth and/or adults who work with 4-H youth are eligible. Applications will be accepted twice in each 12 month period; due dates are June 1 and December 1, thus, funds are distributed on or around July 1 and January 1 each year.
FUNDING GUIDELINES
Allowable Expenses:
All expenses incurred during the development and execution of the
program will be considered.
Priorities in Determining Funding:
- Efforts focused on developing youth competencies and meeting essential needs of youth.
- Efforts focusing on the 8 Life Skills selected by the 4-H Faculty/staff.
- Wise Use of Resources
- Decision Making Skills
- Communication
- Accepting Differences
- Leadership
- Marketable Skills
- Self Responsibility
- Healthy Lifestyle Choices
- Efforts focused on developing life-long skills in young people.
- Programs that reach out to new audiences of youth and to members of the community at large.
- Evidence of working with others in the community.
- Local contributions of time, money, and supplies.
